Dyeing wool and cotton scrim together?
Is this possible with acid dyes or will it not be colourfast on the cotton? I want to nuno felt a wrap using wool and cotton scrim, with some of the cotton uncovered, then dye it afterwards. Will it be ok to do that?
Thanks for any help.Sandy

Re: Dyeing wool and cotton scrim together?
The acid die won't die the cotton satisfactorily. I have found if you do not want your Cotton died, it will pick up colour unevenly. if you wont to die it it will not. You can use MX dies as an acid die and it might work better because MX is what you use for vegetable fibers like cotton. the only thing that dies with both protein and vegetable dies is silk.
one thing you could do is die the wool and then die the cotton, two die baths. the MX die will not die the wool unless you use the special instructions for using it as an acid die.

Thanks Ann.
Looks like I may have to dye seperately then.
