Hi Helen,
I am not sure what it is you want to do and maybe others are having the same problem since you don't have an answer yet.
I think the problem is a white spot on your new purple sweater but I don't know what you mean by the word resist or print.
Hope we can come up with a help for you.Barbara Marr

Yes, resist means bleach, but I don't think you can bleach protein. What do you use to bleach protein please? Thanks, Love, Helen

Helen,
You are right, you cannot bleach wool as it is a protein. I know some commercial yarns are "bleached" to make them pure white but I have no idea what is used.
Is the spot on a place where you could possibly turn it into a design by needle and wet felting a flower or figure on it. That might be easier than matching the purple of the rest of the sweater.
I hope you get more answers since I haven't had alot of help for you.Barbara Marr

I use hydrogen peroxide to *bleach* out wool and silk, about a water/peroxide 75/25 mix... I am not sure if it would work on cotton or not. (I should try it ... for my son's hockey socks I made him, they are 50/50 cotton/wool ... hmmmm).

I have some Jacquard Discharge Paste that is made specifically for dyed natural fibers. I got it a Dharma Trading Company.
