The wool I felt with comes from the sheep and Alpacas we raise on our farm. We have 5 East Friesian Ewes, 1 Jacob, 2 East Friesian wethers and 4 Huacaya Alpacas. Mainly, I wet wet felt and needle felt for finish work.

We just had our Sheep and Alpacas sheared and the fleece is at the mill. I'm Amanda and I have a small farm in Devon where I raise Angora Goats and use their mohair to produce arts and crafts as well as fibre for spinning and felting. Animal welfare is at the heart of all our work at Newmoor Barn and all our fibres are only sought from animals whom we know are treated with care and respect. I love working with natural fibres but also enjoy ceramics and painting and am looking forward to seeing the wonderful fibre art of everyone on the forum.

I have joined the forum to learn more about needle felting. I have been working with acrylic felt making small stuffed animal figures for many years, but have become frustrated at the difficulties of creating specific markings or colour patterns. Especially as more and more people ask me 'can you make my dog/cat/horse (delete as appropriate)?' and I have to refuse because I feel like I can't do it justice! So...that is why I want to try out needle felting.

I am part way through my first project now and will be browsing or posting in the forum shortly looking for help solving a few issues I seem to be having!

I attended a couple of one day wet felting workshops a few months ago and realise they should have come with an addiction warning! I am completely hooked and feel as if I have (after many years of trying various crafts with varying degrees of success) found my "vocation" at last.
