    website posting

OK, I finally worked up a blog style website while I figure out another style. It is a work in progress and will be adding to it as I go. I guess this is the place to post it. So here it goes......just remember it is in it's infancy, so comments are more than welcome! Cheers, Una

Hi Una what wonderful stuff you have. I want to make a site as well. Go daddy looks good. not to expensive and you get free web design program. But I am still a chicken. Was the blog hard to make? the kids seem to throw them up in no time. Do you have to pay to have a blog? I use this thing all the time but I don't have a clue what I am doing.

Hey Ann, Thanks! I have my domain name with godaddy, but it was so easy to post to the blog. I did have a friend that could hold my hand though the beginning, She said it's even easier than when she set up her blog. I think I could have done it myself. blogger.com is free and I was able to use my paypal account to configure the shopping carts, but if you want even simpler, just have people e-mail you if they want to purchase something. I say go for it, you don't have to publish right away or tell anyone until you are ready!
    cheers, Una

    Blog site

Very cool Blog site, Una. And nice to see what an attractive lady you are!

Your work is just breathtaking. When you say the shoes are "lasted" - what do you mean. I have seen wooden shoe "lasts" - but not sure just how you would "last" a pair of shoes.

Your's are just wonderful! Bet they feel great to wear, as well!

    Hugs, lainy

Hi Lainy, Shoes that are "lasted" are made on a form, either old wooded ones or more modern solid plastic. I'll someday get some photos of the process up, but lasted shoes are actually made from the inside out. The insole is attached to the last, the vamp (or outer part of the shoe) is then glued to the insole, starting with the lining. After the lining is in place other components are then attached, like a heel cap and toe cap. The Vamp is then stretched and glued to the insole. This is all done while the last is upside-down and attached to a last jack so you have leverage. Lastly you glue and trim your sole. I hope that helps, I promise to work on photos! Cheers, Una

    Shoe Lasts

Very good explanation! thanks! Years ago when selling our house in Everett Washington, to move, I finally went through the storage shed (which we had only opened and turned away in dismay at all the stuff all the all the while we lived there) and found a bunch of cobbler's tools and lasts. I used them to "pay" the young fellow who was helping me - whose grandfather had been the only cobbler in town for many years! Chances were, they had belonged to his grandfather.

Hey Una - great job on the blog. It looks very professional. Kudos on your TV appearance!

My two cents worth on blogs - they are simple to set up and easy to use. They are free - what else could you ask for in the world of computers??

Thanks Ruth and Gwacie. Yeah, that's Trixie our new kitten under that hat. I made that photo my business card, I'd been searching for just the right photo for my cards and finally found it! Una

    You go girl!
Looks great Una. Can't wait to show Mum too. She makes her own handmade leather shoes - she'll be amazed by your beautiful felted ones!
Me - I love your hats and their contents!
Ditto for the kudos on your TV appearance!
