Thinking of getting a drum carder....
Hi Everyone!
I've been gone for a while, homeschooling and sickness here has taken up a LOT of my time lately. I'm thinking of getting a drum carder, a Strauch. I'm not sure about something though. I'm going to try and dye my own fiber and card it. I would be using the carder for mostly merino and stuff but also corridale and romney and some of the heartier wools. My question is, one of Otto's carders is for making a thicker batt, good for the heavy wools, but not good for the finer wools and the other one I'm thinking of is good for all types of wool, but will make a thinner batt or the heavy wools. If I'm doing needle felting as well as wet felting, do I really NEED the thicker batt or is a thinner batt okay?

You can get a lot of wool on a drum carder, even the ones made for finer wools. I think you'll be very happy with the "thinner" batts.

Thank you, I just wanted to make sure. I would hate to spend that kind of money on the wrong one!
