Natural Dyes for wet felt process???

Holy Cow!...(or Sheep....) I just started to make felt. Even crazier...I am teaching a class with felting as a component.
I am using natural dyes. Pre-mordant in alum. Earthhues method. Haven't dyed it yet.
    1. using churro and romney/perendale roving
    2. premodant made it felt a bit and shrink of course

Questions: Won't another hot water dye make it felt and shrink more and harder to use for felting?
IF wet felting, won't the colors run and bleed when hot soapy water is applied? (using homegrown woad, indigo, madder, goldenrod, walnut)
How effective is using mordant WITH the dye bath instead of pre mordant? Heard it doesn't produce strong color that way.

    Hello,
If you are dyeing roving, simply putting it in the hot dye bath should not felt it as long as you do not agitate it.
I have not done much with natural dyes so perhaps someone else can answer that question...
    Good Luck and have fun,
    Louise
