What kind of camera do you have... and why?

I just have to get a good camera.
I'm taking photos with my iPhone and it's just not working.
My photos look nothing like my goods.

Soooo.... if you have a camera under $1000, can you post its name, and why you like it, and the approximate price?

    Thanks...

Oh, and I'm NOT a photographer, so a point and shoot camera would be best for me.

    Thanks!

Re: What kind of camera do you have... and why?

I have a Nikon CoolPix P80. I think it was in the $400 range. I really love it - the macro settings work perfect for my dolls in the light box and it has an 18x zoom which makes me love it for my every day camera - I haul it with me everywhere and take TONS of pictures - I think I've had it at least two years now. It's a point and shoot digital and some day I want to upgrade to a digital SLR with interchangeable lenses but that is more than I have time to learn now.

    I use a Kodak Easyshare C1013
    It's a 10 mp with 3x optical zoom and cost about £70

I got that one because the ISO settings can be changed manually.
It does have other functions-pattern and balance and such, but I've always had a manual SLR, so never know what to do with those, so just use the flash on or off and the ISO to adjust light/exposure

In response to your other post- felt is an absolute nightmare to take photos of. And what works one day for one item, doesn't work the next day for another. If you only have to take 20 to get a good one, then you're lucky

You will have the same problems with an expensive camera that you do with a lower priced one.
I can take absolutely gorgeous landscape photos with my camera-1 shot, perfect capture, crisp, accurate colours.
30 photos later and I still get blurred, washed out photos of my felt

If you can take photos outside on a bright day when the sun is behind a cloud, you have a good chance of getting a good photo.
