About Felt Fish
I use cardstock covered in tape for a resist. I use a thin layer of cormo wool and angora goat curls for the fins.
Rather like cobweb felt. I only put the fiber on one side of the fins. This creates a few openings in the body to get the resist out.
I put the "fish" in a clear plastic bag and use an electric hand sander until the felt is sticking together and the resist is soggy. Then I pull the resist out and continue felting by hand.
If the openings around the fins don't close up I just needle felt them together.
I also needlefelt the mouth and eyes and to add any details that didn't make it through the wet felting.

Yipes! How fun are these fishies! Great work. Do you make your own wire stands?
Oh! I want one!

Beautiful, just like looking at an aquarium full of tropical fish.......I love the delicate fins, you have captured them to perfection.

Re: About Felt Fish
Thanks for the nice comments.
Yes, they are loads of fun to make.
These guys are between 9 and 10 inches long including the tails.
I'd like to make some larger but I haven't mastered wet felting enough for that yet. I still have trouble with things stretching out of shape and developing holes.
Yes, they are "stuffed". I pack them really full so they are nice and plump.
The "stands" are made from leftover short pieces of soft copper ground wire. It's the ground wire inside the insulated wire that's inside the walls of houses.
It can be bent easily without using tools. I put a small blob of solder on the sharp ends.
I poke a hole in the bottom of the fish with a pair of pointed scissors and then set the fish on the wire. The wire isn't held tightly, the fish can spin around and be lifted off.
